Diflucan® (fluconazole) Birth Defect Lawyer

Our Diflucan® birth defect lawyers represent parents of infants that are born with various birth defects after being exposed to the prescription medication during development. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a high dose of Diflucan® (fluconazole), when taken for most or all of the first trimester of pregnancy, increases the risk of birth defects.

The FDA issued a safety communication in August 2011 to announce that it had changed the pregnancy category of the high dose of Diflucan® from C to D. This means there is evidence that the medication increases the risk of birth defects in infants whose mothers take the drug during their pregnancies, but that it may still be prescribed to pregnant women in certain situations.
